The Oklahoma Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry is the main search tool for Grant County offenders. Grant County does not operate a separate local online registry, so the state DOC system is the definitive public source. Search by county name or by the Medford zip code (73759) to pull Grant County results.

Results show each registrant's name, photo, current home address, risk level, and conviction information. The database is updated continuously as offenders complete check-ins, change addresses, or are removed. The state registry is free to use and open to the public without any login requirement.

Grant County is a small, rural county in northern Oklahoma near the Kansas border. The total number of registered offenders is relatively low, but the same state law applies here as everywhere in Oklahoma. Regular checks of the state registry are the best way to stay current on who is registered in the county.

Grant County Sheriff's Office

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is at 112 W Guthrie St, Medford, OK 73759. The phone number is (580) 395-2274. The Sheriff is responsible for all sex offender registration in Grant County. Offenders who move to the county must register here. Existing registrants must return to this office for each required check-in visit.

Grant County's small population means the Sheriff's office has relatively few registrants to track. Still, compliance is taken seriously. The office coordinates with the Oklahoma DOC to verify addresses and follow up on tips from the public. If you believe a registered offender in Grant County has moved without updating their address or is otherwise not complying, call the Sheriff directly at (580) 395-2274.

The Sheriff's office is open during regular business hours on weekdays. After-hours emergencies should be directed to 911 or the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. For non-emergency concerns, you can also report suspected violations to the Oklahoma DOC or the Oklahoma Attorney General's office.

Oklahoma Registration Requirements

Oklahoma's Sex Offenders Registration Act has been in place since 1989. The current version is codified at 57 O.S. Sections 581 through 590.2. Every registered offender in Grant County must follow these rules.

Level 1 (Low)Annual check-in; 15-year registration total
Level 2 (Moderate)Every 6 months; 25-year registration total
Level 3 (High)Every 90 days; lifetime registration
Habitual/AggravatedEvery 90 days; lifetime registration

The DOC sends non-forwardable registration forms by mail. The offender must appear in person at the Sheriff's office within 10 days of receiving the form. You cannot mail it back. The in-person visit is mandatory every single time.

Transient offenders with no fixed address must report to law enforcement every 7 days. Anyone who arrives in Oklahoma from another state and stays 5 or more consecutive days must register within 2 days of passing that threshold. Failure to register is a felony under Oklahoma law, with a first-offense penalty of up to five years in prison.

Residency Restrictions

Oklahoma law bars registered sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of schools, licensed daycares, public parks, playgrounds, and other licensed child care centers. The rule took effect on June 7, 2006, and the distance is measured in a straight line.

In a rural county like Grant, the 2,000-foot restriction is generally easier to comply with than in urban areas. Medford is a small town, and even there the distance from schools and parks may still leave plenty of compliant housing. But offenders and families should always verify a specific address before moving in. New daycares or child care facilities can open, which changes the compliance picture for nearby properties.

Violating the residency restriction is a separate criminal offense from failure to register. Both are felonies in Oklahoma. The law does not offer any grace period for residents who move into a noncompliant address.

Note: Residency restrictions are about where an offender lives. Additional restrictions depending on the specific offense and court-ordered conditions may also apply. Check with the DOC or an attorney for full details on a specific case.

The National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) lets you search all 50 state registries and tribal registries at once. For Grant County, NSOPW pulls from the Oklahoma DOC database. The national search is run by the U.S. Department of Justice and is free to use.

Grant County sits near the Kansas border, so the national search is useful if you want to check whether someone has prior registrations in Kansas or other states. NSOPW returns results from all states simultaneously. Results link back to each state's own registry for full details. No account is needed to run a search.

Grant County Court Records

Grant County criminal case records are searchable at oscn.net. The Oklahoma State Courts Network covers most Oklahoma district courts for free. Search by name to find criminal filings, charges, and outcomes in Grant County District Court.

The court record for a sex offense case will include the original charge, any plea or verdict, and the sentence. This can fill in context that the registry alone does not provide. If you need certified copies of court documents, contact the Grant County Court Clerk in Medford. Most basic public lookups can be done for free through OSCN without needing to contact the clerk's office.

Remember that the registry and court records are separate systems maintained by different agencies. A person may appear in one and not easily appear in the other, especially if the conviction was in another county or state. Search both for the most complete picture.

Reporting a Violation

If you believe a registered sex offender in Grant County is not following registration rules, you can report it. Call the Grant County Sheriff at (580) 395-2274. You can also contact the Oklahoma DOC directly or reach out to the Oklahoma Attorney General's sex offender registration page for guidance on how to report.

Common violations include failing to appear for a required check-in, not reporting a new address, or living at a location that violates the 2,000-foot restriction. Each of these is a separate potential felony under Oklahoma law. Anonymous reports are accepted. You do not need to give your name when calling to report a concern.
